TI Global InstituteEducation
Theatre International Global Institute (TIGI) is the coordinating institute for the Arts & Cultural division of the Southern Diaspora Research & Development Center.
TIGI was created to honor the venerable Maxwell (Maxie) Glanville, a veteran actor, director, drama coach, playwright, stage manager, and journalist.
In January 1985, Maxie joined the staff of Theatre International, Inc. as Artistic Director. Maxie led the company to artistic heights for the next seven years, until his death on March 6, 1992.
The Institute is an archive for African-American historical drama and a database and research center for the history of black theater from its beginnings. TIGI also depicts the rich cultures of the American Indigenous peoples. The Institute is also a conduit for materials related to the television show World’s Indigenous Peoples.
